The ruin of the Great Temple at Yeha, Tigray regional state in North Ethiopia.
This is the oldest standing structure in sub-saharn africa and beyond 2700 years old. Yes, it's 700 years before christianity. Radiocarbon test has been conducted to determine how old indeed this structure were, Three archeological teams from France, USA and Israel, has done the testing in different time and they all concluded 500 to 800 years before christianity.
An orthodox christian church that was built to re-dedicate the Great Temple of yeha, it's over 1.500 years old and not far from the ruin of The great temple of yeha. The church has a small museum that shows recovered artifacts from the The Great temple of yeha
The pre-christian axumite ethiopians used to sacrifice ibex (wild goat species native to Ethiopia).
Debre Damo is the first monastery that was built in the 6th century in northern Ethiopia. The mountain is steeply rising plateau of trapezoidal shape, and said to be about 1000 by 400 meters in dimension.
